Terri  Rutter

Terri earned a master’s degree in English from Northeastern University while working as an editor of the Harvard Medical School Alumni Magazine and as a freelance writer for numerous health and medical related digital and print publications, including New Physician Magazine and the British Medical Journal.

She began her foray into development at the Harvard School of Public Health, when she joined the advancement communications team to support donor cultivation and stewardship strategy for a successful capital campaign.

She went on to build and lead creative integrated advancement communications and donor relations teams within major academic medical centers, including Harvard Medical School, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, and NYU Langone Medical Center.

As a consultant, Terri has directed complex integrated marketing, communications, donor cultivation and stewardship strategies, along with various communications products, for UMass Medical School Department of Psychiatry, Alzheimer’s Association, Children’s Hospital Boston, Tufts Medical Center, and Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, and MIT.

Terri specializes in aligning and building brand to inspire engagement, and has broad and deep experience in supporting organizations to fundraise and communicate effectively, as well as cultivate and steward their friends and donors. In addition to her own successful career in the field, she has conducted successful executive searches for development communications and donor relations professionals.
