Terri  Rutter

Terri Rutter brings a wide array of nonprofit advancement expertise to LOIS L. LINDAUER SEARCHES, with particular depth in academic medicine, academic and medical research, and healthcare and healthcare-related charities.

Serving in various senior advancement and management roles, Terri built and led creative integrated advancement communications and donor relations teams within major academic medical centers including Harvard Medical School, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, and NYU Langone Medical Center. Each of these roles included managing and developing a number of complex charity brands and models, working with large-scale fundraising events and personalized principal and major donor efforts, all with extensive stakeholder, donor and funder engagement. Earlier career positions at Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health honed communications, donor cultivation and stewardship strategy skills, as well as her experience working effectively with leading physicians, researchers and academic medicine administrators. She served as Editor of the Harvard Medical School Alumni Magazine; Senior Editor at The Dana Foundation in Washington, DC; and Managing Editor at the consumer website Scientific Learning in Oakland, CA.

As a consultant, Terri has directed complex integrated marketing, communications, donor cultivation and stewardship strategies, including strategy, content and production of a wide array of communications products, for UMass Medical School Department of Psychiatry, Alzheimer’s Association, Children’s Hospital Boston, Tufts Medical Center, Montefiore Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, the Betsy Lehman Center, and various Institutes and units at MIT. With a BA from the Ohio State University and her master’s degree in English from Northeastern University, Terri has a broad freelance writing portfolio for numerous health and medical publications, including New Physician Magazine and the British Medical Journal, as well as for digital channels. Leveraging her considerable experience and extensive professional network for LLLS, Terri has executed successful searches for a range of world-class medical and educational institutions.
