Founded by E. Virginia Williams in 1963, Boston Ballet was the first professional repertory ballet company in New England. Today this national and international dance institution is known for acclaimed performances, world class education programs and groundbreaking community outreach initiatives. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen, and Executive Director Meredith (“Max”) Hodges, the Company maintains an internationally acclaimed repertoire of classical, neo-classical and contemporary works, ranging from full-length ballets to fresh, new productions.

Ranked among the world’s best dance companies, Boston Ballet performs a full season of shows each year at the historic, 2,500 seat Boston Opera House and resides in a state-of-the-art facility in Boston’s South End. Boston Ballet has continuously been a leader in the arts with highlights including The Nutcracker, which was voted “Best-Loved Nutcracker Production in the U.S.” and other highly regarded performances of timeless classics such as Marius Petipa’s The Sleeping Beauty, August Bournonville’s La Sylphide, Mikko Nissinen’s Swan Lake, and John Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet. The official school of the Boston Ballet, Boston Ballet School, operates three state-of-the-art dance facilities. A model for excellence and access in dance education throughout the world, thousands of students ages 2-adult are trained here in various programs.

The Opportunity

In conjunction with the Director of Development, the Director of Individual Giving will play a leadership role in shaping, overseeing and building Individual Giving Program capacity while also supervising day-to-day operations. S/He will guide and mentor a team of three to five staff members as well as a portfolio of key major donors and prospects. As Boston Ballet enters the early stages of an unprecedented comprehensive multi-year campaign, the selected candidate will play a significant role in the planning of this effort. Requirements include a BA/AB and ten years of development experience.
