Director of Development

Brandeis University, Rose Art Museum

Waltham, Massachusetts

Brandeis University, one of the youngest private research universities and the only nonsectarian Jewish-sponsored college or university in the country, was founded in 1948. Thirteen years later Brandeis earned Phi Beta Kappa recognition — faster than any other institution of higher education in the country. Brandeis is unique in its combination of a small liberal arts college and world-class research university and is committed to connecting theory with practice, through field work, internships and other forms of experiential learning. The Rose Art Museum of Brandeis University is an educational and cultural institution dedicated to collecting, preserving and exhibiting the finest of modern and contemporary art. The programs of the Rose adhere to the overall mission of the university, embracing its values of academic excellence, social justice and freedom of expression.

The Opportunity

The Director of Development will join the Rose Museum at a transformative time, as it looks toward a renewal of facilities and expanded resources. The selected candidate will direct fundraising, develop ideas and review prospects, as well as cultivate and solicit prospects and donors. Reporting to, and partnering with, the Director, the selected candidate will coordinate the planning, implementation and tracking strategy for all major prospects and donors, work with the Rose Board of Advisors on their gifts, and collaborate with the Director and Collections Manager on gifts of art. A Bachelor’s degree and 5-8 years of development experience is required, with 3-5 years preferably spent in a supervisory/managerial role.
