The Opportunity

The Senior Major Gifts Officer (SMGO) is a pivotal position with the potential to impact and improve CLF’s development program in a major way. Working closely with the Vice President of Development, the SMGO will develop and implement the strategic and tactical goals of CLF’s major gifts efforts. Responsibilities include collaborating with CLF advocates (attorneys), board members and senior management to identify, qualify and maximize existing and potential donors; planning and implementing funding campaigns, events and activities for major gift donors; and providing a high degree of responsiveness to both internal and external constituencies. Eight years of fundraising experience with an emphasis on major gifts is required; a strong interest in the environment and/or a history of environmental advocacy is preferred. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to assimilate complex issues/programs and have the skill to convey their content in a succinct, coherent way, is required.
