Senior Director of Principal and Major Gifts

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Brookline, Massachusetts

In 1947 the Children’s Cancer Research Foundation was founded by Sidney Farber, MD, with a pledge to treat the whole patient, bringing discoveries from the laboratory to patients. Since then, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has grown to an organization of 4,500 employees with more than 450,000 patient visits each year, and a unique and equal commitment to leading-edge research and top-quality patient care. A principal teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, Dana-Farber is training the next generation of physicians and scientists, disseminating innovative therapies and discoveries around the world. Dana-Farber is New England’s top ranked cancer hospital, ranking #1 or #2 in pediatric cancer services by U.S. News & World Reports 9 times since 2008. 19 of its scientists and clinical investigators have been listed as the “world’s most influential and scientific minds” by Thomson Reuters ScienceWatch.

With a development office of 270 staff, Dana-Farber is ranked 2nd among cancer-related organizations, 5th among hospital and medical centers and 6th in Massachusetts in the Philanthropy 400. In 2010 the organization finished an historic campaign, Mission Possible: The Dana-Farber Campaign to Conquer Cancer, raising $1.18B and surpassing its goal one year early. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is supported by the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and others supporting research and clinical programs and the Institute’s principal charity, the Jimmy Fund.
