Major Gifts Officer

Greater Twin Cities United Way

Minneapolis, Minnesota

One of the top five United Ways in the world, Greater Twin Cities United Way just celebrated 100 years of touching the lives of over 1 million people in a nine-county region. The organization partners with local nonprofits, businesses, government and social service agencies to address its community's most pressing needs. Those goals -- stabilizing families, helping children succeed, and empowering healthy lives – encompass local issues ranging from hunger, housing, and domestic violence to educational programs, healthcare, and more. Approximately 88% of every dollar donated goes to initiatives and programs that help people in crisis get back on their feet, prevent future problems, and build a stronger community – a figure that is well above national guidelines.

The Opportunity

As Greater Twin Cities United Way continues to build its development team, a talented Major Gifts Officer (MGO) is being sought to increase funding for vital community programs. The ideal candidate will be a senior level, entrepreneurial individual who is passionate about changing the face of the community through cultivating, stewarding, and growing an active portfolio of major and principal gifts donors. This new emphasis on individual fundraising is part of long-range plan for a major campaign. Being donor-centric and team-oriented are a must, as is a Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of senior development experience, including the direct solicitation of major gifts.
