The Institute for Advanced Study (IAS), established in 1930 and home to Albert Einstein, Robert Oppenheimer, Kurt Gödel, among other luminaries, is one of the international community’s leading centers for curiosity driven research.  30 permanent faculty members, 220 visiting scholars (“Members”), and an alumni body of more than 8,000 scholars has yielded 33 Nobel Laureates and 41 of the 56 Field Medalists. On 589 acres in Princeton, New Jersey, the Institute’s $780 million endowment supports programs in Historical Studies, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Social Science, and Interdisciplinary Studies.  Among the several gifts made in the 2017 academic year were $500,000 awards from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Carnegie Foundation of New York, $1 million from the local Friends group, and a $17 million commitment from a former Member.  

The Opportunity

The Institute for Advanced Study is seeking a skilled annual fund leader to mold and guide its comprehensive annual giving program. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the ideal candidate will supervise a small annual fund team, create new initiatives to grow and launch a world class annual giving department, and manage a portfolio of annual fund donors and prospects. Successful candidates will have at least five years of development experience, including a background in management.
