Lyric Opera draws the finest singers, conductors, directors and designers from across the globe in the production and presentation of its core classics, lesser known masterpieces and new works; develops and implements an extensive slate of education activities; and nurtures the next generation of opera talent. Lyric’s 3,563-seat theater makes it the second largest opera auditorium in North America, and the organization will receive the 2017 British-­Consul General Award in recognition of its cultural impact in Chicago and beyond.

The Opportunity

Lyric Opera of Chicago seeks a Director of Major Gifts to help guide the growth of major and planned gifts from individuals. Working with leadership in the expansion of this critical piece of Lyric’s advancement efforts, this proven frontline professional will possess skills in creating strategic proposals and budgets that increase support of the opera program. Candidates with a minimum of five years’ experience closing major and planned gifts, a proven ability to work closely with top donors and board members, and a strong interest in music, arts or opera, are encouraged to apply.
