University of North Dakota (UND) is a public research institution, founded in 1883. UND boasts more than 3,000 courses, close to 40 online degree programs, and 80 graduate programs. Founded in 1905, the School of Medicine & Health Sciences is the only medical school in North Dakota. Started as a two-year program to teach basic sciences, the School has expanded to offer a four-year doctor of medicine program. In 1996, the School’s name changed to the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences (SMHS) to reflect its diversity of educational and research activities, which had grown to include not only physician-in-training, but also professional programs in physical therapy, occupational therapy, medical laboratory science, physician assistant studies, athletic training/sports medicine, public health, and Master’s and doctoral degrees in the biomedical sciences and clinical-translational science.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the incoming Vice President of Development for Major Gifts and the Dean of the School of Medicine & Health Sciences, the Senior Director of Development, School of Medicine & Health Sciences will work closely with the Dean and faculty to enhance and support their fundraising efforts. S/He is primarily responsible for the qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of individual prospects capable of gifts of $25,000 and above. The Senior Director of Development will be responsible for all major gifts fundraising within the School of Medicine & Health Sciences and UND, including arranging visits with individuals, corporations, foundations, and the development of proposals for private funding.
