The West Chester University Foundation is charged with supporting West Chester University through fundraising, managing donated resources, and promoting the university and its programs. The Foundation has been on a growth trajectory, exceeding its fundraising goal in 2015-16 with more than $5.6 million raised in cash gifts and another $5 million pledged in planned gifts. The Foundation recently completed the $57 million Becoming More campaign, which provided funding for scholarships, the endowment, and new facilities. The West Chester University Foundation is poised for growth, and the incoming Executive Director will be pivotal in expanding fundraising opportunities as the Foundation begins its initial planning for a future campaign.  

West Chester University was founded in 1871 in the Brandywine Valley region of Pennsylvania, a quaint and charming tourist destination less than an hour from Philadelphia. It is the largest state-owned university in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with more than 17,000 students in its 100 graduate and undergraduate programs. 

The Opportunity

West Chester University Foundation is seeking an energetic visionary prepared to lead development and operational functions for the Foundation and its subsidiary, University Student Housing, LLC. The Executive Director will lead a team of professionals, student staff, and contractors in achieving annual and long-term goals for fundraising, facilities management, contract management, trustee relations, and asset management. Reporting to the Foundation Board of Trustees, s/he will be responsible for developing strategies and executing annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, corporate and foundation relations, and prospect research programs, as well as the organization and implementation of capital campaigns. A minimum of seven years of advancement experience is required, with five years in a supervisory role and a graduate degree or CFRE certification is preferred.
