The Opportunity

The ability to manage a successful and comprehensive development program, a solid track record of securing major gifts, as well as the strategic ability to build relationships that maximizes philanthropy for the unit and for the institution as a whole are requirements for the amazing opportunity of Assistant Dean for Development. S/He will manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, supervise all development office professional and classified staff, and create and implement a comprehensive development plan and a donor relations and stewardship plan. The Assistant Dean will report directly to the Dean of the College, as well as maintain a dotted-line report to central development’s Associate Vice President, University Development in the West Virginia University Foundation. A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of development experience with a preference for some management experience in higher education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
