Senior Director of Regional Advancement, Midwest or Northeast

Zaytuna College

Remote or Berkeley, CA

Zaytuna College is the first accredited Muslim undergraduate college in the U.S. and was founded in 2009 by Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, Imam Zaid Shakir and Dr. Hatem Bazian. Zaytuna aims to educate students to become morally, intellectually, and spiritually accomplished persons who, having been rigorously trained in the Islamic and Western scholarly traditions, are ready to interact with and shape modern society by the light of principles that transcend it, being motivated constantly by the intention of finding the extent of human wisdom. The Zaytuna curriculum emphasizes: key foundational texts from the Western and Islamic traditions, both selective memorization and critical analysis, a command of the Arabic language, a familiarity with Islamic sciences, and grounding in subjects from history and philosophy to mathematics and astronomy. Zaytuna College strives to prepare its graduates for lives of service and leadership. Students are challenged to grow in intellectual curiosity and to become caring, responsible human beings committed to the stewardship of creation, especially of the weak and vulnerable. Accordingly, the College emphasizes the universal nature of Islamic values. It is their hope that Muslims of all backgrounds, as well as students and faculty of other faiths and perspectives, will find a welcoming community at the College.

The Opportunity

Zaytuna is seeking to fill two regional positions: one for the Midwest and the other for the Northeast. The Senior Director of Regional Advancement will dramatically increase both the quality and size of the Zaytuna College prospect pool and play a key role in the overall growth of private philanthropy at the College. As senior leaders, the Senior Directors of Regional Advancement are expected to be full and active members of the broader College advancement team, participating in strategy and planning and contributing ideas and counsel. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, this position will initiate and/or strengthen relationships with major gift prospects and also be responsible for identifying, recruiting and developing the founding volunteer campaign cabinet in target markets.

There is an option to perform either position remotely.
